About

I am a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in Statistics in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science (MSCS) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). My research focuses on methods for categorical and longitudinal data, functional data analysis, and nonparametric variable selection.

Research interests:

  • Categorical and longitudinal data modeling
  • Functional data analysis
  • Nonparametric estimation and variable selection

I received an M.S. in Statistics from UIC in Fall 2022.

Research

Methods

  • Multinomial Conditional Link Models for Longitudinal Categorical Data

    In progress

Extending the MLM framework to broader longitudinal structures and dependence patterns.

  • Nonparametric Interaction Selection

Variable selection and estimation for two-way interaction additive models with nonlinear main and interaction effects, using basis expansions and group lasso.

Applications

  • A Longitudinal Imaging and Clinical Data Workflow Identifies Potential Time-Dependent Risk Factors for Post-Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Epilepsy

    Published

Built a workflow combining serial CT imaging and neuro-ICU clinical data to identify time-dependent factors associated with post-SAH epilepsy, using SSANOVA screening, GEE selection, and exploratory FPCA-based logistic models. Published in Neurocritical Care (2026).

Software

  • Multinomial Link Models (MLM) R Package

    In progress

Implementation of Multinomial Link Models proposed by Wang, Tong & Yang (2025).

Experience

  • Applied AI Product InternMay 2026 – Present · Direct Access USA LLC

Built an automated evaluation framework for a financial AI agent (rule-based checks and LLM-as-judge for end-to-end reply quality). In parallel, developed a demo agent to prototype embedding-based news retrieval, full-duplex voice, and memory.

  • Research AssistantSpring 2023 – Spring 2024 · NSF DMS-2015366
